Milton Keynes’ plans for a brand new on-site university MK:U were on show for Government Minister Michelle Donelan who visited the city on Thursday (10th June).

The Universities Minister was invited to meet MK:U CEO Lynette Ryals and have a tour of their Bouverie House facility by local MP Ben Everitt.

Ben, and Milton Keynes South MP Iain Stewart, have both been vocal supporters of the university project here in Milton Keynes and lobbying the Government behind-the-scenes in Westminster.

MK:U is focused on delivering skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and is hoping to build a dedicated on-site campus in Central Milton Keynes.

The Milton Keynes North MP said: “I’ve been banging the drum for MK:U ever since I was first elected back in 2019 and I remain determined to deliver a fully-fledged, on site, university in Milton Keynes.

“The Government knows how passionate I am about this project and I was delighted to be able to show the Universities Minister just what MK:U is all about and how it can contribute to the local and national economy now and in the future.”

Michelle Donelan, the Universities Minister, commented: “It was lovely to be invited to visit MK:U by Ben and see what this exciting project has achieved so far, in such a small space of time. Degree Apprenticeships with a focus on tech and data are totally in line with this Government’s plans.

“As a Government we are absolutely committed to delivering a new age of education focused on digital skills and technology, levelling up opportunities across the country.”
