Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, has welcomed the news the Conservative Government is investing in bridging the digital skills gap in Milton Keynes with a new scheme led by MK College.

More than £5.2 million has been provided to the Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes Chambers of Commerce for the project which will help to deliver the skills priorities set out in the Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs) both of which are a key part of the Government’s 10-year vision for skills set out in the Skills for Jobs White Paper.

The Milton Keynes College Group are the Chamber's lead partner for the LSIP project and will aim to tackle the digital skills gap and to improve the understanding and communication between employers and training.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak visited MK College earlier this year for a tour of their Innovation and Technology Centre and to hear more about the skills apprenticeships they currently offer.

Ben Everitt MP said: "I've been banging on about the importance of skills since becoming the local MP for Milton Keynes North and it's the one thing that almost every single business I visit in the city always mentions to me so I'm delighted with this investment from the Government.

"The funding shows the Conservative Government's commitment to bridging that digital skills gap and ensuring we are training and teaching the skills that employers need from their employees in an ever evolving digital world."
