Ben - Day 1 of challenge

ANNOUNCEMENT

Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, is set to take part in a gruelling challenge to do 100 push-ups a day throughout November to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The Push-Up Challenge aims to raise money for life-saving cancer research with figures showing that 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime. Raising just £50 can buy special restriction enzymes which work like molecular scissors to cut up the long strands of DNA in our cells. This is vital in helping us learn about the 200 plus types of cancer.

Significant progress has been made in tackling cancer over the last few decades with around half of people who are diagnosed with cancer surviving more than 10 years, compared to just a quarter in 1970.

This is the latest physical charity challenge undertaken by the local MP after he raised hundreds of pounds for The Brain Tumour Charity by running 10km 10 times through March and April 2021.

Ben commented: "Most of us have been affected by cancer in some way throughout our lives so I'm determined to play a small part in helping to continue the fight against cancer by taking part in The Push-Up Challenge to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

"Just a small donation really can go a long way to supporting the life-saving research our world class scientists are working on day in day out so anything you can donate will be really appreciated."
