Schools in Milton Keynes will benefit from £320 million national funding from the PE and Sport Premium during the academic year 2020-21.
The PE and Sport Premium is designed to help children get an active start in life and the money will be distributed to primary schools across the country based on pupil numbers.
It has also been confirmed that any PE and Sport Premium funding from the current academic year (2019-20) that schools were unable to use as a result of the coronavirus pandemic can be brought forward to use in the next academic year.
Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, commented, “This is fantastic news for young people’s physical and mental across Milton Keynes.
“After being stuck inside for so long during the lockdown it’s only right schools get extra money so kids can enjoy being outside, exercising and playing sports again when they go back to school.”
