Milton Keynes is set to receive almost £2 million as part of the Homelessness Prevention Grant for 2021-22.
The extra £47 million across the country will bring the total funding to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping next year to more than £750 million.
Local MPs Ben Everitt and Iain Stewart have welcomed the news with MK already benefitting from more than £7.7 million in funding from the Government in 2020.
This also builds on the ongoing ‘Everyone In’ campaign, which is protecting thousands of lives during the pandemic by housing rough sleepers. By September, it had supported over 29,000 vulnerable people, with two-thirds now moved into settled accommodation.
Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North and a member of the APPG for Ending Homelessness, said: “I’ve said plenty of times that one person spending a night on the street is one too many so this extra funding going into homelessness prevention is vital, especially here in MK.
“We want to end rough sleeping and homelessness and the significant investment in Milton Keynes across the last year alongside the wonderful work local charities do will help us achieve that.”
