Ben Everitt MP has praised Milton Keynes University Hospital for ‘leading the way’ on supporting pregnant women during the coronavirus pandemic.
The MP for Milton Keynes North has signed a letter calling on NHS Trusts to allow women to have their partners with them for scans and during all stages of labour.
Unlike some hospitals MK Hospital allows one adult to attend booked scan appointments and a birth partner is allowed on the labour ward – as long as they aren’t displaying coronavirus symptoms – and Ben is proud MK is leading the way.
Ben commented, “It’s massively important for pregnant women and their mental health that they are allowed to have their partners with them for support during life changing events.
“I’m proud MK Hospital is leading the way on this and after signing this letter to NHS Trusts across England I hope others will be following suit to ensure women get the best care possible at an extremely emotional time.”
