Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, has welcomed a £31.9 million increase in funding for Thames Valley Police.
The overall funding is the biggest increase in funding for the police system in a decade and is part of the Conservatives’ manifesto promise to crackdown on crime.
There are an initial 183 police officers already in recruitment in the Thames Valley area and after campaigning for more police funding during the election campaign, Ben is pleased with the announcement.
He commented, “I welcome the extra money, resources and officers which will help on a range of issues in Milton Keynes, not least the issues with knife crime.
“I must offer thanks to Kit Malthouse, the Policing Minister, and Matthew Barber, the Deputy Police & Crime Commissioner, for additional resources from both budgets meaning we have more police and more money.”
Priti Patel, the Home Secretary, added: “This government is delivering on the people’s priorities by giving policing the biggest funding increase in a decade.
“It will mean more officers tackling the crime blighting our streets, so people can feel safe in their communities.
“The police must now make full use of this significant investment to deliver for the public.”
