Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, has welcomed the news NHS Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes has recruited an extra 365 Primary Care professionals as part of the Government's recruitment drive.
In its 2019 general election manifesto the Conservative Party promised 26,000 more primary care staff across the country by March 2024 and the latest figures show the Government is well on track to achieve this.
The 365 figure includes cover primary care professionals including pharmacists, dieticians, and physiotherapists – but excludes doctors and nurses. Delivering more primary care professionals helps to reduce pressure on GPs and improves access to appointments so more patients can get the right healthcare professional to meet their needs.
Ben Everitt MP said: "Improving healthcare across Milton Keynes is my priority as your Member of Parliament and these latest figures on Primary Care staff show we are well on track to our manifesto commitment.
"The Chancellor announced more than £8 billion extra funding for the NHS and social care in his Autumn Statement and this will help us recruit more NHS staff, reduce waiting times and tackle the COVID backlog."
