Earth from Space

The UK Space Industry is one of our many success stories. Right at the cutting edge of innovation, uncovering the secrets of the universe, keeping us connected to each other, keeping us safe in a fast-changing world.

We have a cluster of fantastic innovative organisations in and around Milton Keynes.

Just down the road from Milton Keynes, Westcott is centre of excellence for rocket propulsion in the UK.

The Open University, based in Milton Keynes is making space study accessible to all. Creating the next generation of innovators.

The OU are receiving funding through the UK Space Agency to begin planning for TREEVIEW, an innovative small-sat project that looks to develop the UK’s first precision forestry tool.

This will give researchers here in Britain a unique advantage in understanding biodiversity, carbon storage, flood protection, and will help in our ambitious goal to plant 30,000 hectares of trees a year by 2025.

Innovative businesses like API Microwave in my constituency, designing and manufacturing semiconductors for communications. Leading the way in developing domestic 5G capabilities and finding new applications by the day.

I’ve mentioned before MK-based Dynamic Imaging Analytics has been working on mining water on the dark side of the moon. That same technology is being developed in parallel to upscale the UKs covid testing capability

There are many similar applications of space tech being transferred into healthcare by other colleagues.

This is technology that is going to change the world, being developed not just here in Britain, but in the centre of high-tech innovation, Milton Keynes.

The UK space industry is unlocking the secrets of the universe and solving some of our biggest problems down on earth: cancer testing and treatment, environmental monitoring and protection, food security, weather observation.

There is no limit to what this industry can put their minds to.

With an ambitious and long-term UK Space Strategy, we can go from Global Britain to Galactic Britain.
