Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, has praised the NHS after new figures revealed more than 91% of over 40s in Milton Keynes have now received at least one dose of the COVID vaccine.
That number rises to more than 98% for over 50s with an extra 3,487 people in Milton Keynes having had their first dose of the vaccine across the last week, including local MP Ben Everitt.
The data which covers the period up until Sunday 9th May shows that 189,811 first and second doses have now been administed across the whole of MK since the start of the vaccination programme.
It also includes the incredible news that almost 97% of over 70s in Milton Keynes have now had BOTH jabs to protect them fully against COVID, as well as nearly 72% of over 60s.
Ben said: "This is absolutely brilliant news - more and more people are getting protection and additional protection against the virus every single day.
"Our world leading vaccination programme wouldn't have been possible without our wonderful NHS staff who work so hard for us all to protect us and save lives.
"After having my vaccine last weekend I'm included in this week's numbers and would strongly encourage anybody eligible to take up the offer of a jab and to anybody in the younger age groups - we will get to you, thank you for your patience."
The NHS opened up vaccination bookings to anybody aged 38 or over before 1 July 2021, while the local CCG has confirmed Saxon Court will be open to walk-in vaccinations, without prior bookings, to anybody eligible between 8.30am and 12.30pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week.
