Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, welcomed Transport Minister Rachel Maclean to Milton Keynes on Friday (16/07) to visit Network Rail and see their new zero carbon vans.
Network Rail have 8,000 vehicles in their fleet across the country and are taking a step towards a greener future by investing in the new environmentally friendly vehicles which were on display outside their The Quadrant hub in MK.
Ben and the Transport Minister listened to the challenges Network Rail have faced in electrifying their fleet including when it comes to the bigger vehicle, and the positive steps they are taking to accelerate decarbonisation.
The Department for Transport recently announced its Transport Decarbonisation Plan which will ensure all Government cars and vans are zero emission by the earlier date of 2027.
Ben said: "It was fantastic to have Rachel Maclean, the Transport Minister, in MK on Friday to see the new Zero Emissions Vans Network Rail are launching in their fleet.
"We know how vital it is to decarbonise transport and it's brilliant to have such a huge local employer on board with our Transport Decarbonisation Plan."
